Sunday’s Soak in the Word

Filed under: Sunday's Soak in the Word — admin @ 8:56 pm

Psalms 118:24 - “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Our weekend began a little harried. While we are SO grateful that DH ended his 12 day work week, it did take a little adjusting this morning. We get in our own little routine as moms and children, and well - dad’s aren’t used to that.

For the most part, as long as I have enough sleep, I can keep our mornings very upbeat and positive. Little problems are carefully and quickly steered in the right direction - pleasing Mommy and keeping little ones happy in correction.

Due to a night FULL of contractions, I didn’t sleep much, and was allowed to sleep into 9:30. Somehow, all three children did the same! (Why can’t they do that during the week??) DH was starving by this point - since he had been awake for ages…

It seemed like everything that could go wrong did go wrong, and we were getting a little on each others nerves to say the least. He would get frustrated right off the bat with the children, which would get me upset, an endless cycle. I guess I didn’t realize how into my own little morning routine I was until it was disrupted a little (after 12 LONG days). :)

Mid-morning, DH ran to the Post Office to mail some packages for me, and while he was gone I took the opportunity to ‘re-route’ our morning.

I made a game out of hurrying to get dressed and getting the children’s rooms clean. My oldest, 4, said something about it ‘just not being a good day’ - as seriously and grumpy as a 4 year old can say. (It was actually quite humorous!!)

STOP right there - Bible lesson in the making!!

“Oh, but it IS a good day, do you know why? Because TODAY is the day that the Lord has made! He has given us the gift of life, sunshine, rain, family, clothes, food, shelter - He has given us Jesus!”

My mind has been stuck on this thought all day. How many times do I dread a new day, or do I complain about this and that…. How many times have I forgotten that I am to be happy and rejoice in the day which the Lord has given me to love and serve Him?

Rejoice in the day today - God has created this day, He has created you - thank Him and live it for Him!

Thursday’s Top Ten - New Testament

You might’ve thought we were done with the 10 Commandments, but I couldn’t end this series without referencing the New Testament words of Jesus. Many think of the 10 Commandments as old fashioned, legalistic, not applying to them because Jesus has freed them from the law.

Yes, as Christians, we are saved by grace - free from the burden of the law. BUT in our love for God, we should desire to follow in His ways. His ways ARE the 10 Commandments, but in the New Testament, Jesus ‘boiled them down’ for us.

Update

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:22 pm

Hi everyone!

I know this isn’t necessarily what Heaven In Our Homes is about, but for those that have been following the blog, I wanted to share a little update.

I have reached 37.5 weeks into my pregnancy - which is the furtherest I’ve made it without being more than the 1.5 cm that I am this time! Part of me is glad, since hubby works an hour away, then it’s 30 minutes to the nearest hospital. The other part of me is hoping that I’ll be around the 4 to 5 cm mark in a week or two - cause I’m not used to going into labor until I’m at least that far! (I kinda like my labors being 4 hours start to finish…)

I’m on Facebook now (Mrs. Candace), and that’s where you’ll find out FIRST when I’ve had the baby. I will be in contact with friends I know on there, and they will post the info on my wall when it’s available. :) I’m also keeping more info up on our baby blog - found at www.NineMonthsOrLess.com.

We’re finishing up with Day 9 of hubby’s 12 days of working. I was blessed to have grandparents keep my little ones on Sunday, so I could get some stuff done (rest - yeah right!) It was wonderful to have quiet time - I was able to listen to my instrumental CD without the baby turning it off, play the piano, then tackle the mess 3 little ones had made (plus some adults…)

Yesterday was my OB appt., which went much better than the last few. It’s frustrating when your in a group that rotates drs. BUT, this particular dr. said if I had any trouble with the dr. on call when I delivered, to call him (if he was in that day) and he would deliver the baby!

I spent the rest of that day and today cleaning - because we had someone come to look at the house. I’m not sure how interested she was, but honestly - I’m not worried. 1 - because God knows who is supposed to buy the house and WHEN …. AND…. 2 - I’m having a baby in approx. 2 weeks, I am perfectly content not moving for a little while. :)

I gave the little ones haircuts tonight, that will hopefully last til the baby. DH will have to be tomorrow…. I’ve had my haircut, the van has gas, baby has clothes (except I do need to order some prefolds!!), and our freezer stash - well, we’ve eaten most of it already. :P Oh well, it was good, not to mention nice to have something ready on more than one occassion when I didn’t feel like cooking!

Well, we’re about to be wrapping up our giveaway week. Be sure to also check out Sonbeams and Nine Months or Less for other great prizes!!
