Personal Inventory
Greetings sisters!
Before we begin sharing how to grow in our roles as wives and mothers, we need to start at our role as a Christian woman and our personal relationship with God.
Today, let’s look at the Scriptures to see how God defines us and the commands He gives us. In the following days, we’ll dig deeper into each of these and relate these to our personal lives.
*We are made in God’s image.
Genesis 1:26 - “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”.
*We are God’s temple.
I Corinthians 3:16 - “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
I Corinthians 6:19 - “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
II Corinthians 6:16 - “for ye are the temple of the living God”.
*We are God’s children.
Galatians 4:7 - “Wherefore thou are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
*We are to love God and others.
Mark 12:30 - “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”
*We are subject to authority.
Romans 13:1 - “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.”
*We are to be salt and light.
Matthew 5:13-14 - “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
*We have a responsibility to other women, our husbands, and our children.
Titus 2:3-5 - “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”
There are many… other verses relating to how God would have us live. I feel this is a good start and look forward to studying these with you.
