Personal Inventory

Greetings sisters!

Before we begin sharing how to grow in our roles as wives and mothers, we need to start at our role as a Christian woman and our personal relationship with God.

Today, let’s look at the Scriptures to see how God defines us and the commands He gives us. In the following days, we’ll dig deeper into each of these and relate these to our personal lives.

*We are made in God’s image.

Genesis 1:26 - “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness”.

*We are God’s temple.

I Corinthians 3:16 - “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

I Corinthians 6:19 - “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

II Corinthians 6:16 - “for ye are the temple of the living God”.

*We are God’s children.

Galatians 4:7 - “Wherefore thou are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

*We are to love God and others.

Mark 12:30 - “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

*We are subject to authority.

Romans 13:1 - “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.”

*We are to be salt and light.

Matthew 5:13-14 - “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”

*We have a responsibility to other women, our husbands, and our children.

Titus 2:3-5 - “The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

There are many… other verses relating to how God would have us live. I feel this is a good start and look forward to studying these with you.

The beginning!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:53 pm

Sisters in Christ,

I’m so excited to begin sharing with you!! Part of the reason for starting this blog is to encourage you in your daily life, and part is to encourage myself! Please be patient with me, my postings might not be every day. You see, I’m a mother to three very young children, and my writing comes after them. I welcome your comments, questions, and also your prayers.

The Lord has given me such a burden to share what He’s teaching me, and how He’s been revealing Himself in such wonderful new ways. I can’t wait to allow Him to use this site to glorify Himself!! As you read, pray that the Lord will open your heart to hear and receive what HE has for you as a wife and/or mother. This is not about what I write, but about what God says in His Word.

Romans 8:5 says “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” Pray that God’s Holy Spirit would speak to you as you seek Him in your life. Seek God’s will, pray, and search the Scriptures. Pray that God would burden your heart with His Word and truths. Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”.

I have one last thing to share with you for now. I am NOT perfect and make no claims to be! :) I am human just like everyone else with MANY failings, and many lessons left to be learned. I fail at times as a wife and mother, and I will even have mistakes as I write to you.

I’m not someone who “has it all together”. My house is a mess sometimes, my children aren’t always obedient, and I’ll admit that sometimes I need a break and turn on a video or the tv. I struggle with battles - daily.

But there is great news - God has started a work in me, and He won’t give up until it’s complete!! God shows me time and time again where I fail, and I count it such a blessing - knowing He’s working in my life!

I feel that there are many women out there in the same boat as I am. You are a Christian, but feel overwhelmed at times, and need encouragement/ teaching/ support. That’s what this is about, learning to grow in Christ together. The end result in our families will be - Heaven in our Homes!

May you be blessed and encouraged - both you and your daughters as well - as we share our Christian walk together!
