Hi Moms!
Welcome to my children's world! Here you'll find resources that I have found useful with my own children, ages 4, 3, and 1. There's a lot to learn about working with children - you can't see them as adults, you MUST get on their level!
Thankfully, I still see myself as a child (nice thougts huh!), and can relate to how they think , feel, and learn. It didn't hurt that I once taught in a preschool AND babysat most of my teenage years. Welcome to Heaven In Our Homes!
Homeschooling
This is a very daunting step for many mothers, but it's really not that hard! There are two ways to approach it - strict/ rigid/ straight by the book OR relaxed/ allowing life to provide lessons/ still learning all the so-called requirements.
Allow learning to be fun! Involve your children in day to day duties and activities. For instance, math while making sandwiches. Elementary would be cutting it up and counting the numbers. A little harder would be introducing fractions.Baking cookies or preparing meals would teach older children measurements, as well as teach the younger ones sequencing - all things have an order.
Use this as a wonderful opportunity to share how God is a God of order and share the story of creation, or the order of family structure, government. etc...Life is full of wonderful opportunities for learning. Isn't that what school is for? And what better way can you learn what you need for life than by living life itself!
My Calling - Children
Ever since I was a young girl, I KNEW that God had placed a calling in my heart to work with children! In early 2008, He opened the way for me to put together a curriculum I designed for my own children, as well as products and Bible Verse songs.
This program is called Sonbeams - Raising Up SON-beams For Him!, and can be found at www.Sonbeams.com. Especially designed for children 18 months and up! Please join us there for resources, products, and an informational blog.
